Students had 1.5 hours in class to work on the following which is due by tomorrow:

Green and Purple groups: small books: page 24 -ALL, RAC on top Qs, RACE on bottom Q connected to chart

Red and Orange groups: small books: p. 33, # 2 only, answers should be 2-3 paragraphs minimum

Blue group: p. 28 Do Focus on Comprehension section (RACE) and Hyperbole-you can just quote the answer

Yellow group: small books: last page Questions 2 & 3 RACE

Remember these books are available online at clever, then benchmark, then assignments

NONE, students took part two of the test today.
We start fractional division tomorrow.

Students finished Chapter 4, lesson 2 today. The test will be next week on Wednesday.

Dance performance is on 3/6. Students need dance shoes please email me for helpful tips in getting them. Mrs. Neel stressed the importance for the safety of the students that they have the proper shoes.

1. Finish your Soul of the School assignment. Choose either a poem or three paragraphs. Poems need to be at least six stanzas long, with at least 6 lines in each stanza.  Paragraphs need to each be about a different topic. Include figurative language and many adjectives, descriptive verbs.

2. Work on your African American history project, due 2/21

3. Study spellcabulary words.

Mathematics:

1.Create  brochure, mobile, or 5 stanza poem for the person you chose in class to honor African American History Month. Due by 2/21. Be sure to cite your sources (NO WIKIPEDIA)

History:

3. Fire test = 2/28 (We had an assembly about fire safety today.) Make sure you make a meeting plan and know your evacuation routes. Share what you learned about touching the door with the back of your hand and what to do if  you're trapped in a burning room.

Toll has a meeting tonight at 6pm for prospective parents. All are encouraged to attend.

2. Finish the Close Reading Worksheet on how the Graphic features add to your understanding of the text: focus on the TYPE of information given and how that gives you a better idea about Whitney's life, personality, era, accomplishments.
3. Same signatures as yesterday...I didn't collect them yet. (R. Con. due 2/11 & Homework 1/30 & Vocabulary Test and 10 times each.

Valentine's Day is fast approaching. Students are allowed, but definitely not expected or required,  to bring in Valentine's cards or goodies as long as they bring in the SAME item/type of item for EVERY student. We have 36 students and 2 aides in the classroom. (Mr. Loomis and Mr. Castillo). Thank you for ensuring that every student feels the "love" of a fun "Pal"-entine message.

2. Study previous worksheets; this is a long chapter with robust vocabulary. You need to study a little bit each night in order to commit all of the words to memory.

Other:
Dance shoes are a priority. If your child still needs them, Ms. Neel still has a few pairs; these can be borrowed/checked out with a $25 deposit.
