Language Arts:
Have  safe Halloween!
Tests for Friday = Nellie Bly story, spelling PB p. 21, spellcabulary PB p. 18.

Math:
none!  Today we learned about our online math program for Envision and we began multiplying decimals.

History:
We learned and took notes about the explorers who were searching for the Northwest Passage.

Science:
We read about the relationship between photosynthesis and cellular respiration.
Chapter 2 test = Friday.

Other:
1. Tomorrow is OPEN STUDIO.  Families are invited to attend in Mrs. Atchitelli's room 1217 at 12:15 pm. Please dress in solid color uniform shirt or Keppel school shirt for the performance.

2. Thursday is make-up picture day.

3. Friday is KEPPEL ROCKS CONCERT! SO MUCH FUN!!!!!

Keppel Rocks is just around the corner.  We are given the opportunity to raise funds for 5th grade activities.  5th grade is in charge of concessions with this year's event.  We will receive 20% of all earnings from Keppel Rocks.  Please consider helping us on Friday, November 3rd.  We have time slots for set up, sales and clean up. READ. We have a Red Ribbon Assembly during language arts tomorrow. We'll continue with Nellie Bly next week. :)

Math:
Study your math book pages 157-158 to prepare for the Multiplication Math test tomorrow. Use pages 159-162 to prepare as well.

Roots notes: 4 types due tomorrow.
Cell project due 11/8- you may turn it in tomorrow, if it's done. :)

What should students wear? Solid white, khaki, or blue top for the performance (or Keppel shirt). Students will have time to change out of their performance clothes before PE, in case the student wanted to wear something fancy. However, this is completely optional, and all students should come to school IN their performance attire.

1. Don't forget to attend your art lessons, if you signed up for any of the fifth grade fundraiser lessons. :)
2. This is Red Ribbon week. We had a short discussion on different activities we can do if we are mad, sad, or bored.  Addictive drugs are not an option!! Keppel Cougars make healthy choices! Tomorrow is "Team Up against Drugs" Wear a team jersey.
Wednesday is "Sock it to Drugs" Wear silly socks.
Thursday: Wear red to pledge to be drug free.

Make sure that sentences: a) make sense b) include at least two examples of a possessive c)the vocabulary words are highlighted or underlined.

2. Finish RCC page 55 #1 only, p. 57. # 1& 2 only

Math:
1. Finish p. 115-118
2. Get 2 parent signature on test and multiplication tests.
Multiplication test: Students should miss LESS than 5 problems to pass this test. Expect progress reports home if your child has more than 10 missed problems. Practice these facts every night for less than 5 minutes to make progress.
3. Math Test on Unit 3 = next Wednesday, 10/27.


Science:
1. Plant Transportation worksheet due Thursday, 10/19
2. Plant Reproduction worksheet due Friday, 10/20

History:

Complete worksheet on Plant Transportation: Due on Thursday.
Cell project is due on 11/8.

Other:
It's HOT, many students need water to avoid headaches.

Remember: perimeter means the total distance around the edge of something (add the edges to find the perimeter.)
Test = Friday

Chorus: Rehearsals began today. Parents are invited to come into our open studio in a few weeks to hear the students perform.  :)

Science:
Cell projects went home today: due 11/8. ( I know that I said 11/9, but that is NOT a school day.) Please read the assignment and come with your questions tomorrow. Get a parent signature on the paper.

History:
Chapter 3 test = Friday

Language Arts: The odyssey towards inference mastery continued as we journeyed to ancient Egypt today.
Study your lively spelling words...wink, wink.

Math:
1. Finish page 80, numbers 18 and 19.  Page 103-104 all.
2. Test = Friday, use pages 105-108 to study. We reviewed setting up subtraction problems and bar models and regrouping.
3. Get get parent signatures on 2 quizzes.

Science:
We began collecting data about the length and direction of a tether ball pole.

History:
History presentations began today.
Chapter 3 test = Friday- Study!


Other:
Tomorrow is McTeacher's night at the McDonald's on Central. All transactions between 5-8pm will yield a 20% profit for our fifth grade committee.

We have an upcoming event this Friday, October 6th. The MKS Spirit Wear Pop-Up Shop will be in front of the school, selling Spirit Wear from 12:15pm - 2:30pm. All Spirit Wear adheres to the Keppel Uniform Policy and more importantly, looks pretty snazzy on your kids.  We will be accepting payments via cash, check or credit card.

Language Arts:
Read RCC pages 74-76

Math:
Get 3 adult signatures. One quiz and two math tests.
Do pages 69/70

Science:
Complete the three math worksheets by Thursday.
Science test chapter 1 = Friday

History:
Bring to school on Thursday whatever parts of your history project that you want help with or want to work on.

Other:
Remember the school colors for uniforms are blue, khaki, and white. BLACK is not a school uniform color.  Please make sure your child is in uniform everyday.

All families need to fill out the lunch application this year. If you do not want to supply your information, just check the box that indicates that you are not interested in participating. The school goal is 100% participation. Our class is only at 40% participation.

Tomorrow is Walktober... walk the last few blocks or walk the whole way. Students who have a sticker will receive 100 table points.

1. Read RCC book (Ready Common Core) page 66, 68, 70
2. Finish part one of the Korean language assignment.
3. Get an adult signature on FIVE assignments: Spellcabulary, Women on $10, Selfie/Museum, Paw Prints, and Early American Theater assignment.
4. Write words and their definitions ten times for each missed word for spellcabulary.

-Students were given an hour of work time in class to work on these assignments.

Math:
We continued working on our math tests.
Students who finished worked on tenmarks.com lessons.


Science:
We finished chapter 1, lesson 3.
Test on chapter 1 = Friday.

Other:
Login to google classroom. You need to login everyday.
