Language Arts:
NONE!!

Math:
Work on your packet-especially on the pages that make you nervous so that you can practice those areas. We'll go over answers for everything tomorrow. We went over answers for the first four pages (front and back).

Science:
Study for chapter 5 test on Thursday.

History:
I. Fact Sheet:  Due Date: Friday, May 10th . This is not this Friday, but the following one.
II. Poster: Due Date: Friday, May 17th
III. Shoebox Float: Due Date: Tuesday, May 21th

Language Arts:

Students took the Performance Task today with massive writing. ;)


Math:
Do the assigned problems from the online cumulative benchmark, lessons 1-16
We'll continue with the math test prep for the state test tomorrow.

Science:
Finish taking notes on Chapter 5, lesson 4.  You need notes on causes and effects for monsoons AND the definition of "cyclone".
Chapter 5 test = Thursday

History:
Get your fact sheet done. Google search: State Facts and your state's name.
Here's the link for the directions, due dates, and copies of the fact sheet.
If you want to type onto the Fact Sheet, go to "File",  then click on "Make a Copy"
This will make a new document that you can edit/type onto.

Other:
State testing continues. Students NEED TO BE IN BED BY 9PM. Several students report staying up late on Sunday nights. This affects their energy and morale.

Take the online test: End of Year Benchmark: Topics 1-16 This is how you do it: 1. sign into GUSD google account 2. Click the "waffle" 3. Scroll down to and click Pearson App 4. Click Realize in the App 5. click Classes 6. Take the End of Year Benchmark that was assigned to you.

Topic 15 test is being pushed back until after testing.

Science:
Chapter 5 test = next Thursday

Other:
Keppel/Hoover/Toll Block Party today- 4-7pm. You should consider going...it's going to be a blast!

State Project Directions and Fact Sheet

Language Arts:
None, we are doing state testing

Math:
Finish pages 829 & 830 by tomorrow.
Test on Topic 15 on Tuesday

Science:
Finish your notes for chapter 5, lesson 3
Chapter 5 test = Tuesday

History:
Review the directions tonight, come in with questions tomorrow.

Students who DID NOT attend camp, there should be three OTHER science worksheets graded & your Language arts summaries and graphic organizer should be graded and in your Thursday folder.

Complete pages 822-824- ALL. There are VERY few problems on these pages and students had over 30 minutes to work in class.

Get your Line Plots quiz signed by a parent. If you redo missed problems AND show your work, I'll regrade your quiz.

Science:
Chapter 5 test = next Tuesday

Other:
No school tomorrow for Armenian Genocide Remembrance Day.

Thursday is a late start day, 9 am  and students begin fifth grade state testing. Students need to be well rested and eat a hearty breakfast. Please no morning appointments through May 10.

Friday is Block Party in the evening. Come join in the fun.

Wednesday, April 24th is Armenian Genocide Remembrance Day- No school so families can honor their culture.

Thursday state testing begins for fifth grade. Please get students to bed no later than 9pm and give them a high protein breakfast.

Block Party is this Friday night.

Campers-See you at 8:10am at the flag pole in front of the school. Pimenta and Cannon kids see Mrs. Cannon to check in. Other students go to your teacher to check in.

Don't forget to pack your sunscreen, hat, chapstick, full water bottle, and jammies!!  Put your name on ABSOLUTELY EVERYTHING.

Campers: 
1. Be at the flag pole at 8:10 on Wednesday morning. Check in with your teacher, campers will NOT be marked tardy arriving at school at 8:10am.
2. Put your name on EVERYTHING THAT YOU WANT TO BRING BACK
3. DON'T FORGET YOUR: sunscreen, hat, chapstick, and water bottle
4. Bring a plastic bag (one that CAN be sealed) if you get carsick
5. We will have a GREAT TIME!!!!

NON-Campers:
You have regular school Wednesday-Friday with assignments that WILL be graded and WILL count towards grades.

Please remember YOU DO NEED A HAT,  REFILLABLE WATER BOTTLE, AND CHAPSTICK  ;) . 

LABEL EVERYTHING YOU BRING TO CAMP: ALL CLOTHING AND BELONGINGS, AND LUGGAGE WITH YOUR NAME. THE RULE IS: IF YOU WANT TO BRING IT BACK, LABEL IT!

NON-CAMPERS: Next week is a regular school week for you. Get to school on time through the Virginia Gate. Cannon and Shelton homeroom students will be taught in Mr. Shelton's room.

1.  Be ready to write RCC on the Navajo Code talkers assignment.  Jot down small notes for graphic organizer-just a few words.
2.  Revise draft for your fable make sure you have at least 3 uses of figurative language  and  3 uses of sensory details. Bring it tomorrow.   ....You MAY want to type it for tomorrow's editing..
3.  Study vocab and story for "Any Small Goodness"


Math:
1. Finish 721-722
Topic 12 & Topic 16 test = next Tuesday

1.  Spheres worksheet due tomorrow-geosphere, biosphere etc.

Tomorrow is Spring Picture day for students who are ordering photos only.

Camp = April 17-19, make sure you have filled out ALL the online forms for Camp Pali.
April 17-19 are school days and all students are expected to attend either school or camp.

Camp: = April 17-19.  Fill out the forms online if you are attending camp. Remember ALL medications being administered at camp must be listed on the Glendale Unified School District Medication form and be signed off on by a doctor. There are no exceptions.  I have extra forms if you need them.

THERE IS STILL SCHOOL FOR STUDENTS NOT ATTENDING CAMP on April 17, 18, and 19. Attendance at school is required.  Teachers are planning academic lessons for students  NOT GOING TO CAMP which will be graded and count for report card grades. 

Fifth Grade testing begins April 25.

Please have a conversation with your child about behavior expectations at school. There are students who have "spring fever" who are acting wildly inappropriately towards other students and school property. Please reinforce that we want all students to be respectful, responsible, and safe all day and in every way at school.

State testing begins on April 25. Please make sure kiddos are early to bed and appointments are NOT scheduled for those two weeks.

State testing begins on April 25 and runs through EVERYDAY until May 3. Please do NOT allow children to stay up late (No midnight Avengers showings, please!) or have any doctor's appointments in the mornings on those days.

Camp forms were due today. Please submit them as soon as possible. Please complete online camp forms ASAP. :)

* STudents MAY use a calculator because it only speeds up calculations. It won't help them if they don't know what to multiply or divide anyway.

ALL CAMP FORMS ARE DUE BY TOMORROW. BE SURE TO COMPLETELY FILL OUT ALL MEDICAL INFORMATION ON THE FRONT AND BACK.  All medications, over the counter and prescription medicines, must be listed and signed off on by a doctor on the medical forms.

Book Fair this week, yay!!!!!  You may go to the book fair WITH AN ADULT after school each day this week  OR Thursday is Dads with Doughnuts morning before school.  Books and doughnuts, what a great combination!

Thursday is Promotion Picture Day- all fifth graders get their picture taken. Bring your packets with money to school on Thursday, if you want to order some other photos.

ALL: BEING IN PETER PAN IS NOT AN EXCUSE FOR MISSING ANY SCHOOL WORK. MRS. GILBERT AND MRS. NEEL WILL BE NOTIFIED IF STUDENTS ARE MISSING ASSIGNMENTS AND USING PETER PAN AS THEIR EXCUSE.  All students are welcome to come into my classroom and work during lunch/lunch recess at any time if they want a quiet place during the day to get assignments done.
