1. Do NOT bring lunch tomorrow-it's fifth grade luncheon. Thank you fifth grade parents!!!!!

2. Wear your fifth grade t-shirt tomorrow. We're performing for Cougar Pride Assembly.

3. Get behavior card, states, test, capitals test, and Thursday Folder signed.

4. Parents are WELCOME to attend Cougar Pride to see us perform our 1940s dances. :) 8:30am, Hoover Auditorium. :) :) :)

5. Promotion is tomorrow night, 6pm. Students MUST REPORT AT 5:45PM. HOOVER AUDITORIUM.

6. Put your name on the edges of your yearbook to prevent someone making off with it...

7. NO SCHOOL ON MONDAY = MEMORIAL DAY

8. PLAY DAY = NEXT TUESDAY

 9. LAST DAY of School = Next Wednesday-MINIMUM DAY!!!!!

10. REPORT CARDS go home on the last day of school- no report cards will be issued for students that have outstanding library books. Turn them in!!!

ELA: Thanks for a fabulous year. I am sooooooooooooo proud of your hard work-you survived being Cannon victims!! Remember to not be maniacs when you fly solo next year in middle school. Wink wink!

History:  Study, capitals and states test tomorrow.

Other:
 All family members are cordially invited to attend our dance presentation in the dance room at 1:30 tomorrow, Thursday, May 26. Bring your colonial costume to school. If enough students bring them, then we'll wear them for the dance performance. DO NOT go rent one tonight. Let's just see how many bring their costume. :)

Parents are invited to watch us do the Mrs. Neel dance at the Hoover auditorium at 8:30am on this Friday.

Promotion is this Friday at 6pm sharp in the Hoover Auditorium. Students need to be present by 5:45pm.

Parents are also cordially invited to our Cougar Pride Assembly this Friday in the Hoover Auditorium at 8:30am.

Promotion is this Friday, 6pm in the Hoover Auditorium. Students must arrive NO LATER than 5:45pm and no earlier than 5:30pm.

Don't forget that tonight is the Nova Market and Catering fundraiser. Bring in the flyer sent home yesterday in order to benefit the fifth grade committee!

ELA:
Get your spellcabulary signed by a parent and write missed words with definitions 10 times each.

History:
Be studying the states and capitols. Test =next Wednesday.

Other:
Colonial Day tomorrow. Wear your costume and bring a sack lunch.

All parents/family members are cordially invited to join our classroom for a performance of our Music Center Dances next Thursday from 12:30-1:30 in the dance room above the cafeteria.


Tonight is Papa John's fundraiser-yummmmmmmmy!

Thursday folders and behavior cards are due tomorrow.

Promotion is next Friday, May 26th at the Hoover Auditorium-6pm. Please review the information in the Thursday folder about this event and have your child bring the bottom portion back tomorrow.

ELA:
Story test = "The Top of the World" and Spellcabulary test on pages 330 & 750 in reading book.

History:
Be studying your capitols and states!!! Many students are falling behind with our daily reviews. Use your history books or atlases to study. This will be the last test of the year. :)

Other:
Friday is Colonial Day-remember to ARRIVE in costume and bring a sack lunch.

1. Study your "The Top of the World" story and vocabulary on page 330 & 750 for reading book: Tests = Thursday

2. Reading logs are due this Thursday. Only four days/entries are required.

History: Keep working on the memorization of the fifty states and capitols.

Thursday night is dine-out night at Papa Johns-please support the fifth grade. :)

Complete the electronic information worksheets by tomorrow.

Other:
Maturation forms were sent home today. Please return them tomorrow. All students must return a form that indicates whether or not their parents want them to receive the maturation information at school. There are links to watch the videos that the students will be shown.

Friday is Colonial Day-come in costume and with a sack lunch.

ELA:
Today was a  sourdough day in ELA. Only "true sourdoughs" were able to earn their bread.  Study for Spellcabulary test tomorrow pages 694 & 722 in reading book. Also, story test on "Klondike Kate".

History:
We're knee-deep in the civil war. Keep working on those states and capitols.

Other:
A few students still need to turn in their field trip forms for Colonial Day. May 20th is Colonial Day- you need to bring a sack lunch and come in Colonial costume.

Math:
  We continue our review of place value, today we're also reviewing multiplication of decimals. Finish Unit 5 pages 15-24. Most kids only had a few pages left to complete. :)

ELA:
 Complete the V-map for reading book pages 694 & 722.
Story test on "Klondike Kate" and spellcabulary test on Friday.

History:
We got to the civil war today. :(

Continue studying your states and capitols-this will be the final history test of the year.

Other:
All of our students are invited to perform our dances in the Dance room from 5:45-6:30pm this Wednesday evening.  Yay, Mrs. Neel dances are challenging and fun!

Wednesday is a minimum day-12:05pm dismissal.

Open House is Wednesday evening from 6:30-7:30. See you here!

Hello All,

Just a quick email blast from Hoover Instrumental Music to let you know of our upcoming events.

This weekend (5/14 & 5/15). Herbert Hoover Jazz will perform twice.  Admission is free to both.  On Saturday, we will be at Travel Town at 2:00.  On Sunday, we will perform at Glendale's Central Park (next to the main library.  That will run from 10:00-noon.

On Tuesday of next week (5/17), the Hoover String Orchestra and the Principal's Own concert band will give a concert in Hayhurst Auditorium at 7:00 PM.

Math: No new lessons, the students finished their iREADY testing today. YAY!!!!!!!!!!!!

ELA: We read about Klondike Kate.  Next week's vocabulary is on pages 694 & 722. VMap due on Wednesday.

Reading log due on Wednesday.

History: We learned about the westward expansion over our continent and played Oregon Trail.

Other:
Colonial Day coming up soon.  Start researching costumes online.

Complete Unit 5 pages 5-14-they're riduculously EASY, unlike the State Performance Task.

ELA:
Start working on your new reading log; it's due next Wednesday

Other:
Get caught up on your iREADY lessons. Once you've hit 18 in math and 18 in reading since March 6th, you're done for the year. Yay!

Math: We continue to work on our state testing. We also busted out the first four pages (1-4) of the Unit 5 Gems book-these pages are suuuuuuper easy.  They're powers of 10 multiplication. Yay!  We'll work on the performance task tomorrow.

ELA: Reading book page 676, questions 1-3 due tomorrow on the Lewis and Clark Expedition.
New reading logs will be distributed tomorrow and collected on Wednesday, May 11.

Dance today: Great job, dancers!!!
