2. Tests on the conversion unit were handed back. Corrections for another chance to get credit for this test are due on Monday with a parent signature.
3. State testing on math begins on Monday and is administered sporadically over the course of the two weeks.

Today was our time with Mr. Keith-our visiting artist with the Music Center. We worked on spectrum of emotion with skits featuring "annoying" and "normal" people.

Final drafts of essays were collected.
Science:
Chapter 6 Review will be tomorrow. Test = Monday

Today was mime-improvisational theater day. We reviewed the steps for converting between units within a measurement system. WRITE THESE IN YOUR NOTES:
STEPS FOR CONVERSIONS:
1. Draw a table
2. Write the basic conversion. 1 ft yards
3. Figure out the rule (remember it's always multiplication or division)
4. Fill in the information you do have from the problem
5. Use the rule to solve the problem.

1. We finished our five paragraph argumentative essays today with writing our conclusions.
2. Due tomorrow your essays printed with a parent signature.

We worked on converting between different units within a given measurement system. Please make sure problems 8 & 9 on page 191 and problems 15 & 16 on page 193 are completed. :) Quizzes on Friday will be on line plots and on measurement conversion.
Language Arts:
Students wrote opening paragraphs on their opinion/argumentative writing pieces. The two functions of an opening paragraph are to: 1. Grab the reader's attention 2. Let the reader know what the essay is basically about. There should be sentences for both of these functions.
Additionally, students were instructed to go back and add details to their other paragraphs.
Science:
We spent the last hour of the day reviewing Chapter 5 for the test tomorrow.
Other:
Apex Fun Run is Friday. This fundraiser is our wonderful MKS's (Make Keppel Special) last big fundraiser of the year. They are raising funds for a quality sound system for our school's performances. Thank you to the families who have already pledged or donated for this effort. The last opportunity to sign up is tomorrow night at midnight.
Ignite Dance: Performance = Friday, Rehearsal = Thursday. Alex Theater, 6:45pm call time.
Please support your child's last few months of school by encouraging them to READ for entertainment instead of watching TV or playing video games during the school week. Reading allows their imaginations to grow and provides a quiet break from noisy and hectic school days.

1. We continued working on plotting data and creating lines. MJ page 353 # 2 only, MJ pages 354-358.
2. Get parent signature on p. 13 (no chorus kids for this one); p. 29 (all); p. 138; p. 140; p. 189.
3. There are new 10marks.com lessons loaded are ready to go! These are great practice for all fifth grade concepts.
English Language Arts:
1. Students completed the unit on finding supporting evidence by completing Common Core ready pages 209/210. These were collected at the end of the day.
