Math:
We finished the place value section of the RCC (Ready Common Core) book and reviewed rounding.
Ask your child why we 'count by' when the instructions say 'round to'.

1. Get three worksheets signed by a parent. Parents, it's up to you whether or not you want your children to finish worksheets that are blank.


ELA:
READ, READ, READ. Do your iREADY lessons.

Science:
We reviewed metals, nonmetals, metalloids. (Cannon's Class only)

Other:
Picture day is coming soon...

We had Kumbaya time today with Mrs. Choi learning the Preamble song...PRACTICE at home!

Math: We began reviewing place value. Students should finish through page 5. All students must explain their answer to number 9 on page 5 to a parent. Parents can sign page 5in the Ready Common Core book.

Language Arts:
Get p. sig on v.map and on inference writing assignment.
Answer questions 3 and 4 on page 372 from story book.

Science:
1. Complete Static Electricity page.

Other:
Get behavior card and Thursday folder signed.

Picture day is next week. :)

Math:  
We systematically attack word problems: ASK your children to show you the steps for CUBES!

Three worksheets assigned:
1. Mathboxes p. 19,
2. CUBES,
3. Unsquare Numbers, p. 23

Language Arts:
We read "A Drop of Water" today and discussed the importance of diagrams/photographs/illustrations in science textbooks.

Assigned for tonight: read the story again!!!
Test on Friday for "A Drop of Water" vocabulary: study!

Science:
We talked about electron flow, AKA ELECTRICITY!!!
HOMEWORK = get a note signed saying that you explained the difference between a series circuit and a parallel circuit.

Other:
 It is crazy hot at school; please, please, please send 2 small water bottle or 1 large water bottle for your child to drink at school.

Math:
We took two quizzes and I gave two worsheets-one on ordinal numbers and one math boxes.

Language Arts:
We took a spelling test, a story test on "Line Drive."

Due Tuesday: Complete your inference about this question: How do the inventors of the merry-go-round pump feel about children?

Science:
Complete the Worksheet on Atoms & the Periodic Table by next Wednesday for Cannon class and Thursday for Shelton Class.

Shelton students: get your graded worsheet signed by an adult at home.

Cannon students: if you didn't already do so, get your graded worksheet signed by an adult at home.

Other:
No school tomorrow or Monday. See you all Tuesday, Sept. 8th- it is a PE day. :)

Language Arts: We worked on making inferences today

Science:
Make sure you've completed the science worksheet by tomorrow. "Atoms & Molecules"

Other:
2 Reading lessons and 2 math lessons should be completed by now for iREADY, two more for each subject are due by this Sunday.

Math:
  We worked on number concepts of arrays and review of landmarks: maximum, minimum, range, median.

2 worksheets on arrays- remember 8 X 6= 8 Rows X 6 Columns


Language Arts:
We worked on making inferences about informational text. Students finished making an inference about the type of woman that Harriet Tubman was.

Remember the formula:
State your inference. Use a quote to prove it. Explain how the quote connects to something in real life that you know to be true.

Art:
 We began our tape models...ask the students: it is chaotic structural art that involves tape, saran wrap, and imagination.

Science:
Finish Atoms/Molecules worksheet

Other:
A giant thank you to the students who are making respectful and kind choices to one another at ALL times. I love teaching such awesome kids.
