Math:
 Today...we went 3-dimensional! We began the unit on volume.  We completed Common Core Ready pages 219-223.

Language Arts:
It was another day of testing...which will continue tomorrow!
Please return the permission slip and $ for our April 30 field trip ASAP! Thank you to those who have already done so.  Reminder: April 30 is the Spring Orchestra concert, so those talented musicians will be staying at Keppel in order to perform (no permission slip needed).

History:
We covered Chapter 9, lesson 3. Test will be next Friday.

Other:

10 iReady reading and 10 iReady math lessons were due by last Sunday.

Math:
1. Students took the conversions test today.
2. We'll start the common core unit on volume tomorrow.
3. We'll begin the state testing for math next week.

Language Arts:
1. We began the performance task today for the Smarter Balanced CAASPP testing-the California state tests.  We'll continue to work on them for the remainder of this week.
2.  READ!!!!!
3. Students who are going on Shane's Inspiration field trip( all non-orchestra folks)-return $ and signed permission slip by Thursday.

History:
 We covered chapter 9, Lesson 2 today.  The Chapter 9 test will be on Friday, May 1.
The state fact sheet is due Friday, May 1.

Other:
 Toll Open House= Thursday, April 23rd. 6:30-7:30

Math: We worked on conversions within units of measure.  All problems should be completed common core pages 204-207.
TEST Tomorrow on conversions, including word problems.

English Language Arts:
1. Field Trip forms were dispersed to students who are NOT in orchestra for our field trip with the College View Students on April 30, 2015.  Please return forms ASAP with 5 dollars (exact change) or a check made out to Mark Keppel Elementary. Students need to bring a sack lunch that day.

Orchestra students remain on campus on April 30, 2015 due to the Awesome Orchestra Performance that day. Yay!

2. We did a Performance Task group discussion exercise.

Science:
  We took a test on chapter 6 today. It was out of this world...wink, wink.

History:
I sent home the State History Project Directions today. Please sign and return the Bottom portion only.

Other:
Progress reports begin going home on Thursday. Get your iReady, typing, and reading done. :)

Math: Today we had quizzes and reviewed conversions.
Test = next Tuesday on conversions

Language Arts:  We reviewed informal and formal writing. Being a Writer pages 67-69.
We finished our language arts state testing, part 1.

Science: Chapter 6 review completed today. TEst = Monday

Other:
Get your iReady and AR quizzes complete. Progress reports will be sent home next week.

Math:
  Today was our time with Mr. Keith-our visiting artist with the Music Center. We worked on spectrum of emotion with skits featuring "annoying" and "normal" people.

Test = Tuesday for problems involving conversions (including word problems).

Language Arts:
Today was a testing day for the state Common Core standards.

Final drafts of essays were collected.

Science:
Chapter 6 Review will be tomorrow. Test = Monday
I'll give you back your vocab and lesson 2 work tomorrow so that you can use it to study.

Other:
TOMORROW IS LIBRARY DAY-WE'LL DO MORE RESEARCH ON YOUR STATES. :)
BRING ALL OTHER BOOKS BACK.

Remember: money for the Apex Fun Run is being collected by tomorrow.
Next week progress reports go out.

Get your iReady lessons and reading done. By this Sunday, APRIL 19th, students should have completed 10 reading and 10 math lessons on iReady since March 9.

Math:
Get parent signature on three graded quizzes: Common Core page 216-217,  Shelton p. 86 & 87
Review notes for conversion and line plots:  Test next Tuesday.

English Language Arts:
Final copy with revision and rough drafts copy are DUE on Thursday, April 16th.

Science:
We took notes on Chapter 6, lesson 2. Make sure your tree map is completed!!!  Chapter 6 test will be next Monday, April 20!  Study your notes!


other:
  Get your iReady, typing, and reading completed.

The APEX Fun Run collection envelopes are being collected this week!!! It was a terrifically fun event! Thank you to the six families who have already contributed. The MKS organization appreciates your support. I am soooooo glad that we are not selling chocolate or wrapping paper right now!  This healthy and positive program was a real hit with the students.

Math:
 Review line plots and conversions. We'll continue with conversions tomorrow.

ELA:
  We began Smarter Balanced California state testing today. Five paragraph essays with the recommended revisions with a parent signature were due today.  Make sure that they are done by tomorrow.

Science:
 Chapter 6, lesson 1 was covered today. Make sure that questions page 303, questions 1-6 are completed by tomorrow.  These will be graded.


Other:
Please make sure your child gets a good night's rest and eats breakfast each morning.  These practices set them up to make the most of each school day.
